Burkhard Gantenbein (*1963) has been elected as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the constituent Supervisory Board meeting following the 24th Annual General Meeting of UNIQA Insurance Group AG on 6 June 2023.
Born in Switzerland and also holding German citizenship, he studied law at the University of Zurich and earned his doctorate at the University of Fribourg. He acquired additional expertise and management knowledge at the University of St. Gallen (Institute of Insurance Economics) and at the London Business School. Among other positions, he was a member of the Management Board of Generali Insurance Group and CEO of Helvetia Insurance in Austria.
Burkhard Gantenbein, who has been a Supervisory Board member of UNIQA Insurance Group AG since 2017, succeeds Walter Rothensteiner (*1953) as Chairman. Walter Rothensteiner has held this position for the past eleven years, before that he was a Supervisory Board member since 1995 and is now retiring from the Supervisory Board due to the statutory age limit.
Rudolf Könighofer, General Director of Raiffeisenlandesbank Burgenland, has been newly elected to the Supervisory Board.
